Our Devon man & van service offers a low cost option which is the ideal choice if you are not looking for a full removal service. Whilst our removal service includes multiple vehicles, different size teams, furniture dismantling / assembly, packing options, storage and more, we also like to have an alternative option for those who may just want a sofa collected from Facebook or Gumtree, or perhaps just need a van and are happy to help the loading and unloading.

Our man and van service is a set price three hour time slot which depends on our availability each week. We also offer a reduced cost furniture delivery service for those single items you may buy from Facebook etc.

We offer three options currently.

1. Furniture delivery service for single items - This is a set fee of £60 and covers the local area (see below for more information).

2. 1 Luton van with driver. Customer will be required to assist with loading and unloading.

3. 1 Luton van with 1 driver and 1 porter. This is a 3 hour slot for customers who may only need a few large items moved locally and do not require a full removal service.

What does a man and a van do?

Who does our man and van option suit? There are a number of reasons that you may need a man and van in Devon. A few of these reasons could be:

• You only require a single item of furniture to be delivered and collected

• You have a few large items to move but not a full house load

• You may need a van and some man power for the morning to move items into storage

• You require a student move service to or from your student accommodation

• You need a van to collect furniture from IKEA in Exeter for example

Whatever the reason maybe, using our man and van service will be a good choice for you. Our man and van will still offer the same ethos as our removals which is to offer a professional moving solution. Our vans are fitted with blankets, ties and tools for the job.

How much does a man and van cost?

A man and van option can be less than you may think. Unlike our full removal services, we do not need to book quotation surveys, block out one or more days for a full move and allow for delays caused by completion issues. Not having to do this means we can we charge accordingly.

Is it cheaper to hire a van or a man with a van?

You may have the temptation to hire a van and ask friends and family to help. First of all by the time you factor in van hire, fuel and additional insurances from van hire places, you could actually end up paying more than if you asked us to move your item(s). You will also run the risk of injury if you try to move yourselves. Heavy furniture needs to be lifted properly and safely, our staff are trained and used to this. Eliminate the risk of injury or damage to the furniture by employing us to do the hard work for you.

We can supply one van and one driver if you want to keep the cost down, or we can have two staff and one van if you would rather pay a little extra and not have to worry about helping.

Our ethos at Empire Removals is that you should not receive a less professional service just because you have less to move. When using our man & van option, you get the same professional approach to moving that our removals service provides, just on a smaller scale. . Whilst a man and van is not the right option for a large move or a house move in a chain due to time restrictions, it can be a very useful service if done correctly for a range of customers.

Please note this is not suited to all customers. If you are moving in a chain, buying and selling with possible key waits and delayed access then you will require our full removal service which allows for these circumstances and includes extras such as packing, furniture dismantling, delayed access etc. Likewise, if you have a large amount to move, or require a larger team due to access, extremely heavy items etc then please do not select this option.

For the furniture delivery of single items, there are some exclusions which will not be included in this service and need to be arranged individually, These include pianos, American fridge freezers, exceptionally heavy items that require extra staff or equipment. Please contact us to discuss.
